Audit provides positive report on village finances; warns more controls needed

KALKASKA – The Village of Kalkaska seemingly received a clean bill of health, in regards to its financial status. Although, officials were also warned to tighten controls, including how it does business with the village president.

Joe Verlin of the Grand Rapids-based Gabridge & Co. presented the Kalkaska Village Council with a review of its audit for the 2016 Fiscal Year, which ended in February, at the council’s regular meeting Monday, Oct. 9. Overall, the report was positive.
