Bellaire Lions celebrate 70th anniversary
BELLAIRE – The Bellaire Lions Club celebrated its 70th anniversary in traditional fashion – by serving others. To thank the community for its many years of support, the club hosted a public reception on Wednesday, June 7, at the Bellaire Airport.
The group first met on March 11, 1947, at Mary's Tea Room in Bellaire.
Since then, the club, which currently has 24 members, has been very active in numerous local community efforts, providing eye exams and glasses for the needy and breaking its own Project “KidSight” record on two different occasions with the number of vision screenings provided to local pre-school children, according to current Bellaire Lions president Bobbi Lukins.
