Blazers tag Thelen for varsity football head coaching job
KALKASKA — Justin Thelen is bringing a new, young energy to the Kalkaska football program.
The Blazers named Thelen their new varsity head coach over the weekend, filling a position that had been vacant since Josh Bigby resigned midseason last fall during an 0-9 season.

Thelen was the defensive backs coach at Manchester University in Indiana last season and before that he was a graduate assistant coach at Anderson University, which is also in Indiana. The Michigan native was looking to get back into teaching and he was hired at Kalkaska to teach English back in November.
