Boyer, Ingersoll picked for All-Ski Valley first team

REGION — Mancelona senior Matt Boyer and Forest Area junior Chase Ingersoll were among the players selected to the All-Ski Valley Conference boys basketball first team for their play during the 2018-19 season.

Those two joined four other players on the first team, including senior Tanner Byard and junior Blake Cassidy from league champion Pellston. Johannesburg-Lewiston big man Tyson Claeys and Gaylord St. Mary point guard Brady Hunter were also named to the first team.

Boyer had a major impact on the Ironmen turning their fortunes around this season. After winning just four games the previous season, Mancelona surged to a 14-7 record this year. Boyer was the team’s leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 18.1 points and 5.9 boards per game.
