Carnival, animals and activities to highlight County Fair
KALKASKA – The Kalkaska County Agricultural Fair is bringing a carnival to the fair! Family Fun Tyme Amusements from Galesburg, Michigan will open on Thursday, July 26 and stay in town through Saturday, July 28.
Wristbands are available on Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28 for $15, which give unlimited turns on the rides and inflatables for that day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Thursday, July 26, the carnival will be open from 5-9 p.m. for a sneak peek special. Tickets will be sold for $1 each.
Also highlighted at this year’s fair is the Motors and Mayhem Derby, which will take place over two nights. On Friday, July 27, the gates open at 6:30 p.m. There will be a Classic Figure 8 competition and a Spectator Figure 8, where any vehicle with four wheels can enter the race.
On Saturday, July 28, the events will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday competitions will feature a Stock and Mod Bump-n-Run and a One and Done Demo Derby. Both nights will kick off with a power wheel event for kids, and tickets will be free for children age 5 and under, $5 for kids between 6 and 12, $10 for ages 13 and up, and $15 for pit passes.
“The Bump-n-Run is a great event that the entire family can attend,” said fair board vice president Kyle Kimball. “It is fun to cheer on your favorite local driver and watch the exciting finishes. From the power wheels to the modified classes, there is something exciting for everyone!”
In addition to the ticketed attractions, the schedule for the 2018 Kalkaska County Agricultural Fair advocates the slogan “Never an entry fee to the fairgrounds!” And as the slogan suggests, almost all of the activities listed on the five-day schedule are free to the public.
