Chamber seeks input on possible sign replacement
BELLAIRE – Since 2005, residents and visitors to the village of Bellaire have always known the time of day and outside temperature, thanks to the sign in front of the Bellaire Senior Center on Cayuga Street, near downtown Bellaire.
But in recent years the sign has begun to show its age.
"The sign would say it was 9:15 a.m. and 101 degrees at 2 in the afternoon in February, then 20 below in the middle of July," said Bellaire Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Patti Savant, whose office window overlooks the sign outside.
"We had it fixed three different times, but finally it was decided that there was no more fixing it – it needs to be replaced," she said. "Since that sign was purchased and installed through community fundraisers, we thought we would once again ask the public if we should replace it or not."
