KALKASKA – Some might have thought the clash between Village of Kalkaska officials would subside after treasurer Jennifer Standerfer was reinstated in early February following a nearly six-week suspension for insubordination.

But, the fireworks between Standerfer and her critics, including Village president Jeff Sieting, have continued to fly at recent meetings.

Standerfer read yet another statement at the Kalkaska Village Council’s regular meeting March 26, questioning why she was still the target of alleged harassment by Sieting and Village manager Scott Yost.

“I have spoken with each council member at some point over the past eight months, stating that I have dealt with a hostile and threatening work environment from President Sieting and manager Yost,” she stated. “I would like to know why nothing has been done to address this issue.

“Why do I have to stand up in public meetings and ask for accountability for those attacking my character and work performance in and out of my workplace?”

And, Standerfer was joined in her criticism by her husband, Kelly, who also read a statement at the March 26 meeting.
