DDA to apply for second grant to help fund clock tower
KALKASKA – If one grant is good, a second one has to be better.
That’s the thinking of the Kalkaska Village Downtown Development Authority, which was recently awarded a $75,000 grant by Rotary Charities in December. The grant is slated to help fund construction of a proposed “clock tower” and informational kiosk in downtown Kalkaska.
But, DDA officials informed the Kalkaska Village Council that they’re hoping to repeat their recent success by applying for a second grant to fund the project, rather than use existing DDA funds.
“The DDA is looking to submit another grant application to (the USDA’s) Rural Development program,” said Gayenell Gentelia, DDA assistant director and Main Street program coordinator, at the council’s regular meeting Jan. 8.
