Elks dominate Grayling on road

GRAYLING — The Elk Rapids boys basketball team took to the court on Friday for the first time in three weeks, playing conference rival Grayling on the road, and coming away with a 70-54 win.

In the final game before the holiday break, the Elks set a team record for three pointers, but against Grayling they struggled connecting on just 1 of 18 from behind the arc. The Elks were able to adjust by running continual fast breaks, using a smothering full court press and mopping up on rebounding for the win.

“We executed our game plan really well, as we wanted to pressure them and make them uncomfortable and we also wanted to emphasize us sprinting the floor in transition to help us get some easy buckets. Our press was really good, which led us to a lot of fast break points,” said Elk Rapids coach Kevin Ball.
