KALKASKA – It’s time to celebrate, as the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation again team up to host the 2019 Kalkaska Annual Luncheon set for Wednesday, April 24.

Over nearly five decades, the luncheon has become far more than an annual gathering to update chamber members. It’s also become a time to honor the efforts of the year’s Kalkaska Business and Kalkaska Citizen of the Year winners.

The luncheon has also become a fundraiser in support of the Miss Kalkaska scholarship fund and now, new for 2019, proceeds will help an Endowment for the Kalkaska Area at the Community Foundation.

“This endowment is dedicated to supporting the Kalkaska community and grants are decided by Community Foundation Board Directors from Kalkaska County,” chamber officials stated.

Previous grants have supported programs such as the Kalkaska Conservation District Rugg Pond project, the Father Fred Foundation Blessings in a Backpack program, the Northwoods Animal Coalition, the Kalkaska Baby Pantry, K.A.I.R., and the Kalkaska County Commission on Aging Senior Center.

The 2019 luncheon is slated for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24 (which is also the opening day of the annual National Trout Festival) at the Kalkaska Church of Christ on West Kalkaska Road. Tickets are still available for $20 per person, or groups may purchase a whole table.
