Antrim County Prosecutor James Rossiter has charged David Michael Barber, 45, of Gaylord (formerly of Alden), with homicide/involuntary manslaughter, a felony firearm possession charge, and a charge of careless discharge of a weapon.

An investigation conducted by the Department of Natural Resources, which handled the incident, found Barber accidentally shot Justin Edward Beutel, 38, of Sanford, off West Elder Road just east of East Torch Lake Drive north of Alden, on Nov. 15 while deer hunting on property belonging to the Beutel family.
