A four person golf scramble to benefit the family of local restaurant owner Jenny Rowell, who passed away on June 24, will be held at Bellaire's Centennial Golf Club on Saturday, July 13.

REGION – A benefit golf scramble in memory of Bellaire restaurant owner and Kalkaska graduate Jenny Rowell will be held on Saturday, July 13 at the newly-reopened Bellaire Centennial Golf Club.

Rowell, co-owner of the Lunch Box cafe in downtown Bellaire, passed away on Monday, June 24 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit due to complications from an infection.

She was an avid golfer and managed Helen's pub and grill at the golf course for several years, remaining friends with the Smith family, who created the golf course on the property of a former family farm.

Rowell also had worked part time for the new owner of the golf club, Chris Corbett, at Corbett's Pelican's Nest sports bar and grill at the Chief Golf Course outside of Bellaire.

The $60 per person, four-person golf scramble, which includes lunch and raffle tickets, will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. with registration from 8 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. Those who do not wish to golf are invited to enjoy lunch and raffle tickets for $20.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Rowell's daughter Sophie and other members of the family.

The Bellaire Centennial Golf Club, located at 3388 Eddie School Road, east of Bellaire, was purchased by Corbett earlier this year and re-opened to the public on June 25.

For more information on the benefit, call 231-350-8448 or 231-342-0467.
