Great days ahead for Township Ambulance

ANTRIM COUNTY — On Tuesday, Sept. 29, the Township Ambulance Authority Board met and unanimously voted to place current Assistant Director, Shannon Johnson, as the new Systems Director.

“Shannon has been with the TAA for over 12 years as an EMT and then served as the Assistant Director.  We celebrated her well-deserved appointment at our first staff training/meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 30,” said Judy Sayre, Administrative Assistant at TAA.

“October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and, as we normally do, we donned our new cancer awareness T-shirts for a photo opportunity,” Sayre said.  “Cancer Awareness month has been special to us as health care providers, but especially this past year and currently as it hit way too close to home.”

Johnson was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of 2019 and went through extensive surgery, followed by 24 chemotherapy treatments.

“As if that wasn’t enough, Shannon continued to have 12 more different chemotherapy treatments, ending with 28 radiation treatments for five and a half weeks,” Sayre explained. “We all stood on the sidelines as her biggest cheerleads as she walked this road. She finished all these treatments on September 10.”
