James steps down as Kaliseum director

KALKASKA – A quickly unfolding chain of events led to the resignation Kaliseum Recreation Complex Director Alan James at a special meeting of the Kalkaska County Board of Commissioners on Thursday, April 13.

James, director of the county-owned recreational facility, requested the board allow him “to terminate my employment under the terms of the agreement” at the meeting last Thursday.

The request came after James and commissioners met in closed session for about an hour and 20 minutes Thursday, as well as discussing a variety of issues at a special meeting of the board’s Department of Public Works Committee on Wednesday, April 12.

“I have no hard feelings,” James said in open session. “It was a matter of personal learning.
