Kalkaska captures title of home tournament

KALKASKA — It was a perfect day for the Kalkaska softball team at Saturday’s Blazer Invitational as the host Blazers won all three of its games to take the tournament championship.

Kalkaska (18-3) defeated Constantine 7-1, Fruitport 6-5 and Adrian 11-0 to run through the tournament with three straight victories.

Perhaps the most exciting finish came in the win over Fruitport as Kalkaska used a walk-off hit by Maddy Wilkinson to get past the Trojans in the second of the three games. Jordyn Disbrow also came up big for the Blazers, going 3 for 4 with an RBI. Alli DeVol added two hits and drove in a run, while Loren Schwab had a hit as well.
