KALKASKA – Considering recent wintery conditions, most people probably aren’t stopping to watch what’s happening at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center’s campus in Kalkaska.

So, for those who haven’t recently driven down Third Street to get a glimpse, KMHC’s top administrator, Kevin Rogols, recently provided those attending the regular meeting of the Kalkaska Village Council on Jan. 14 a positive report on the $14.1 construction project that started in the first half of 2018.

Rogols said ventilation equipment was recently installed on the roof, while inside portions of the project are “all framed” and have had conduit installed.

“We’ve caught up in the last two-three weeks,” Rogols said. “It’s coming along really well.”

Maybe the best news of all for taxpayers is that the expansion project, which is funded by a 10-year, 1.6-mill millage renewal approved by voters in May 2017, is currently about $380,000 under budget.
