Lady Warriors start season with a win

FIFE LAKE — The talk in the preseason was Forest Area being an up-and-coming and improved girls basketball team.

The Warriors backed that up in their first game, getting the year off to a good start in a 38-32 win over Big Rapids Crossroads Academy on Monday.

Forest Area came out playing a much more aggressive, fast-paced and full-court style against the Cougars and that allowed the Warriors to lead fairly comfortably throughout most of the game. Crossroads faced an uphill climb all night but kept battling to stay within striking distance in the fourth quarter.
