Library to present ‘Wreck of the Gimpy Gin’
The Elk Rapids District Library will welcome back Raymond Goodwin for an After Hours Performance of “Wreck of the Gimpy Gin” at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9. Goodwin, whose book “Sawdusted” was a Michigan Notable Book, writes and performs one-man plays that are funny, sepia colored portraits of small town Michigan life. “Wreck of the Gimpy Gin” considers a tragic accident that happened in 1927 off the coast of Burner’s Inlet, Mich. A local family’s reputation has been affected ever since. Now, 87 years later, a minor official of this small Lake Huron community brings to light new evidence that will change the view of what happened that awful night. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the public is invited to enjoy light refreshments before the performance. This is a free event and all are welcome. To find out more, call the library at 231-264-9979.
