No missing funds discovered in audit, village council president says
CENTRAL LAKE — The just-completed results of a special forensic audit of the village of Central Lake's financial records did not reveal any missing funds, Central Lake Village Council president Larry Eckhardt said earlier this week.
"There were no missing funds discovered and all irregularities in accounting practices were accounted for," Eckhardt said Monday of the audit, which was requested by the Antrim County Sheriff's Office as part of a criminal investigation into the financial activities of Rachael Antaya, the village's clerk/treasurer of the past six years.
Reportedly suspended with pay in December, Antaya formally resigned on Jan. 3, citing personal reasons. Members of the Village Council, including Eckhardt, have not said what events led to the former clerk's resignation.
