Organizers announce cancellation of annual snow fun day

FIFE LAKE — Organizers of the annual Carly’s Hill Snow Fun Day Cardboard Classic, held on the last Saturday in January, knew they had a decision to make, even though it was one they were trying to avoid.

Still, Tammie Budrow, park director and coordinator for the Cardboard Classic, recently announced the popular family event set for Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Springfield Township Park and Recreation Area on Lund Road would be canceled.

According to Budrow, the primary reason for canceling this year’s event was because organizers weren’t sure whether they could meet current state guidelines related to the COVID-19 pandemic, limiting gatherings to 25 people, even with the event primarily occurring outside.
