Organizers marvel at large turnout for Christmas in Kalkaska
KALKASKA - The Christmas in Kalkaska Holiday Craft Show did not fit in the Kalkaska Middle School gym. It spilled out into the hallways and flowed through the school all the way to the cafeteria. It was a maze of booth after booth and vendor after vendor.
“We had a really great turnout of both vendors and customers,” said organizer Debbie Ball-Odeh.
The craft show moved to the middle school from Birch Street Elementary after needing more space, and this year combined with the middle school’s Breakfast with Santa event. It took place on Saturday, Dec. 2 and brought in 87 booths and hundreds of customers.
“The craft show pays the bills for Christmas in Kalkaska,” said Ball-Odeh. She listed off candy canes from Santa, advertising, porta-potties, hot dogs and buns, the bus rental for the light tour, prizes and storage – all of which are paid for through the craft show.
