RC egg hunt shines, despite threat of rainy weather
RAPID CITY – Rain early Saturday couldn’t dampen smiles on the scores of faces of those attending the Clearwater Township Fire Department Association’s annual Easter Egg Hunt on April 15 at Heritage Park.
The egg hunt has drawn bigger crowds. But, Station No. 5 Fire Chief Jeff West said some people might have skipped the event after rainy weather blanketed the area earlier in the day.
“I’m sure a lot of people decided to go shopping or something,” West said. “(But) it worked out well.
“It’s a good event. People like it,” he added. “People probably didn’t think the weather would burn off like it did and it’d be such a great day.”
The firefighters association has helped sponsor the Easter Egg Hunt for the past seven or eight years, according to West. Although, this was just the second year it was held at Heritage Park.
“We had something like 400 kids the year before that,” West said. “We’d run out of room at the fire station.”
