Ready, set, run

CENTRAL LAKE — More than 300 competitors from 30 schools got the 2017-18 school year started on Saturday as they took part Ryan Shay Memorial Invitational at the Burns Family Farm in Central Lake.

The Ellsworth and Kalkaska boys teams had the best finish of the local teams, with both coming in fourth in the Division 4 and Division 3 standings, respectively.

Ellsworth was sixth in the Division 4 girls race, while Mancelona took sixth in the Division 3 girls race — the best finishes among the girls teams.
