Return trip: Kalkaska to again host ‘Moving Wall,’ honor Vietnam veterans

KALKASKA – Area residents will again be able to honor the efforts and sacrifices of those who served and died during the Vietnam War, when “The Moving Wall” makes it third trip to Kalkaska in May.

The Moving Wall is a traveling half-sized replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Kalkaska has hosted the smaller memorial twice before, in 2004 and again in 2008.

And, the wall will make its third visit to the area from May 17-21 at the Kalkaska County Fairgrounds, according to former Kalkaska County Sheriff and Michigan Heritage Foundation board member Jerry Cannon.

“As in the past, there will hundreds of volunteer opportunities for individuals and organizations,” Cannon said. “We have done this twice before in 2004 and 2008 and have a great template to work off of.
