Shay Memorial Cross Country meet starts new school year

CENTRAL LAKE — The 2017-18 school year officially begins on Saturday when 23 boys and girls cross country teams hit the terrain at the Jean Burns Family Farm for the ninth annual Ryan Shay Memorial Cross Country Invitational.

Nine Division 3 and 14 Division 4 schools are taking part in the event.

“This is the largest number of schools to attend,” said Joe and Sue Shay, the race co-directors. “We are privileged to have some of Michigan’s best teams and individuals participating.”
