KALKASKA – After spending six weeks on paid indefinite suspension for insubordination, Kalkaska Village Treasurer Jennifer Standerfer is back at work.

Standerfer was notified in a Jan. 31 letter from village president Jeff Sieting that he was reinstating her effective immediately. The letter follows another letter dated Dec. 22 in which the treasurer, who was appointed by Sieting, was placed on indefinite suspension after clashes with village manager Scott Yost over the cancelation of credit cards issued to Kalkaska Department of Public Safety personnel.

Sieting’s most recent letter also stated that there would be various changes which he hopes will prevent future issues and make for a more productive and harmonious work environment for all involved.

Those changes include that Standerfer will now report to the Kalkaska Village Council’s Finance Committee, rather than Yost. Committee members will supervise the treasurer’s work, as well respond to any questions regarding her duties, provide guidance and evaluate her performance.
