FIFE LAKE – Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Department (GTSD) officials released the name of a South Boardman man killed in a two-vehicle crash in Fife Lake Township on Monday, Jan. 28, shortly before 11:30 a.m.

Terry Lee Duncan, 48, of South Boardman was a passenger in a 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup truck, driven by another area resident and was headed southbound on US-131, near Marsh Road at the time of the accident. According to police reports, the truck came up behind a tan sedan and attempted to slow down, when the driver lost control.

GTSD officials stated that the truck then slid across the centerline, with the passenger side of the vehicle being struck by a northbound semi-trailer truck driven by a 25-year-old Saranac man. The impact of the collision reportedly sent the truck into nearby trees.

Duncan was killed as a result of injuries sustained in crash, while the driver, a 35-year-old South Boardman man, was transported to Munson Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the semi-trailer truck reportedly did not suffer any injuries as a result of the crash.

According to preliminary reports, drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been factors in the fatal accident that remains under investigation.
