Still each other’s Valentine after more than 65 years
CENTRAL LAKE – JoAnne Denomy-Kruse was in the 10th grade when she moved up north and met a young man at Central Lake High School by the name of Eugene Dawson.
More than 65 years later, they’re still each other’s Valentine.
“We were high school sweethearts, and still are,” added Gene Dawson. “We can talk to each other, and that's very important.”
“We might not always agree, but we can talk to each other,” JoAnne chipped in. “We’re good friends.”
Married in 1954 shortly after their graduation, the couple lived downstate during their first years of marriage.
