Sweet season continues for Bellaire with district title

BOYNE FALLS — It’s been a sweet season for the Bellaire girls basketball team.

On Friday the Eagles put a cherry on top of it when they captured their third straight district championship with a 44-22 win over Gaylord St. Mary in a Division 4 title matchup between the two best teams in the Ski Valley Conference.

“Super proud of the effort of the girls,” said Bellaire coach Brad Fischer. “We knew it would be a slugfest. We knew it wouldn’t be pretty and both teams just laid it out there as always. Tons of respect for their players. They just play so darned hard all the time and they’ve been keeping me up for a while. It’s about the girls, I’m just so happy for the way they competed together.”
