Trojans capitalize on turnovers to beat Bellaire
CENTRAL LAKE — The Central Lake-Ellsworth football team scored 24 points off six Bellaire turnovers, making the Eagles pay for their mistakes in a 46-14 football win over their county rivals.
Bellaire had three giveaways in each half, with Central Lake-Ellsworth putting together a 16-0 lead on the first two and never looking back to snap a two-game losing streak to the Eagles.
One play after Central Lake-Ellsworth’s Gavin Miller recovered a fumble on the first series of the game, Drayton Evans ran in a 28-yard touchdown to put the Trojans (2-3) ahead. Brayden Steenwyk ran in the conversion. Garrison Barrett intercepted a pass in the opening moments of the second quarter and the Trojans again made Bellaire pay as Steenwyk hit Jamal Cebulski with a 56-yard touchdown strike, then threw to Barrett for the conversion for a 16-0 advantage.
