KALKASKA – A group of hardworking volunteers will again be getting out their work gloves, rakes and other various tools for the fifth annual “Clean-up Day” at Chalker Park in Kalkaska on Saturday, June 9.

Kalkaska village resident Shana North, Clean-up Day coordinator, said the annual work-bee will begin at 10 a.m. and go “till everything is done.”

Although, thanks to previous efforts, North said this year’s work at the park located on Laurel Street, just off of Cedar Street, should be relatively easy.

“More or less, we just need to go and pick up trash, spruce things up and maybe do some gardening,” she added. “It won’t take long.”

Volunteers are encouraged to bring a lunch, as the group will take a break around noon. They should also bring their own rakes, gloves and other tools, if possible.

“The rest is all provided,” North said.
