Winterfest Postponed: Dog races rescheduled, derby still on for this weekend
KALKASKA – Kalkaska Winterfest has been pushed back because of unexpected warm weather in January. Originally scheduled for Jan. 20 and 21, the festivities are now rescheduled for Feb. 17 and 18.
The Kalkaska Winter Derby hosted by the Kalkaska County Fair is still scheduled for this Saturday, Jan. 20 from 1-4 p.m. Gates at the County Fairgrounds Arena open at 12:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per person and children ages 5 and under can enter for no cost.
The event will include a bump-n-run, demo derby and – for the first time – will offer a “one and done” demo derby for small stock cars.
With the exception of the derby, all Winterfest events have been pushed back to a busy weekend in February. This will include the dog sled races, dog pull competition, newly added Recliner Race, along with the craft show and silent auction.
