Workshop, updated format help council approve budget plan

KALKASKA — With nearly three weeks to spare, the Kalkaska Village Council approved its 2021-22 budget plan with a unanimous vote at its regular meeting Monday, Feb. 8.
The vote came less than a week after council members and village staffers reviewed the budget plan at a workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 5. The budget will now be forwarded to the Michigan Department of Treasury.
The village will end the current 2020-21 budget year on Feb. 28, with the new budget effective as of March 1.
