CENTRAL LAKE — Four area schools competed at Saturday’s Central Lake Hot Dog Invitational cross country meet, contributing to a pack of more than 250 boys and girls high school runners who took part in the annual event.

Mancelona, Bellaire, Central Lake and Ellsworth all put their runners on the trail to compete, then receive a grilled hot dog after the race.

Ellsworth’s boys had the highest team finish locally, coming in second among Division 4 schools. East Jordan scored 14 points better than the Lancers to get first (35-49). The Lancers’ girls were third, finishing behind East Jordan and Frankfort. Central Lake took eighth and Bellaire was tied for 10th.

Mancelona’s boys and girls teams were fourth out of four teams in Division 3, but the Ironmen recorded 11 personal bests, including seven among their 10 boys and girls counters.
