Bellaire hires new DPW supervisor
BELLAIRE – After conducting public interviews of three applicants during its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 5, the Bellaire Village Council unanimously approved a motion to hire Bradley Keiser as its new Department of Public Works (DPW) Supervisor.
An employee of the village's DPW for the past six years, the 32-year-old Keiser will take over the position held for many years by Ken Stead, who after more than 40 years with the village will retire on Sept. 17.
Married with two children, and another child due later this fall, Keiser also serves as a reserve police officer for the village.
Just prior to the motion made to hire Keiser, Bellaire Village Council President David Schulz noted that earlier this fall, while out of work due to surgery, Keiser had told him that he had been using the time away from work to take notice of work of some sort that needed to be done, and since then had made a point of completing at least one of those tasks every week.
"That's the sort of initiative the DPW needs in a leader," Schulz said.
