BOC to consider Second Amendment resolution
BELLAIRE — The Antrim County Board of Commissioners agreed to consider a proposed resolution declaring the county's support of the Second Amendment during the board's first evening meeting of the new year on Thursday, Jan. 16.
Representing a new Facebook group called Michigan For 2A Sanctuary Counties, which has gained more than 85,000 members since its inception on Christmas Day, during public comment Kewadin resident Randy Bishop explained the intent of a proposed resolution designating Antrim County as a Michigan Second Amendment Sanctuary County, which he then asked the Commissioners to adopt.
A Second Amendment Sanctuary County refers to county governments that have adopted laws or resolutions to prohibit or impede the enforcement of certain gun control measures perceived to be in violation of the Second Amendment, such as universal gun background checks, high capacity magazine bans, assault weapon bans, and red flag laws.
