CENTRAL LAKE — Facing the need for upgrades to the village's existing system, the Central Lake Village Council discussed the possibility of a new sewer system during its Oct. 14 business meeting held at the Central Lake VFW Center.

Noting that the existing system, which only services approximately 25 percent of the village, is aging and could fail in the next five to 10 years, Village Council President Rob Tyler passed out copies of a preliminary engineering report on the village's needs and current options done by engineering consultant firm Gourdie-Fraser of Traverse City.

The report assesses the village's current population, existing sewer system, and considerations for the future, as well as offering several different options for improvements, including a full-blown system with a sewage treatment plant that could service the entire village.
