Central Lake grocery to remain open under new ownership
CENTRAL LAKE - Patrons of Central Lake's Village Market grocery store drew a huge sigh of relief last week when it was announced that the store will remain open under new ownership.
Village Market co-owner Kevin Young made the official announcement on social media on Saturday, Oct. 9, just 12 days after a similar announcement made by Young about the store's closing, although a 30 percent off sale was cancelled and customers began seeing shelves being re-stocked several days earlier.
Although Young would not say who the new owner is, stating on Tuesday that he expected a joint announcement to be made later this week once paperwork is complete, he did say that the new owner would be keeping the Village Market name of the business, although the store would no longer be connected to the two other Village Markets in Alden and Elk Rapids.
