Central Lake man files appeal in election fraud case

BELLAIRE — "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again" is an old proverb that certainly appeals to Central Lake Township resident Bill Bailey and his legal team, who filed an appeal last week of a judge's dismissal of their election fraud lawsuit. 

Bailey's attorney, Matthew DePerno, of Portage, who on Thursday announced his candidacy for Michigan Attorney General, filed the appeal on Wednesday, just two days short of the appeals deadline, in Antrim County's 13th Circuit Court. 

In his initial court filing on Nov. 23, which was dismissed by Circuit Court Judge Kevin Elsenheimer on May 18, Bailey accused Antrim County of election fraud, claiming his constitutional rights were violated when a mistake made by the County Clerk's office initially showed incorrect results for the November general election in the county.
