Central Lake upended by St. Mary in district final

BELLAIRE — The wins and success have become more and more frequent for the Central Lake volleyball team in each of the last four years.

Winning a district title has proven to be a tougher task for the Trojans, however.

For the fourth consecutive year Central Lake played for a district championship and saw its chances to claim a trophy dashed. On Thursday it was against Gaylord St. Mary, a rematch of last year’s five-set thriller. This year’s matchup only went four games but provided a lot of the same back and forth battles between the two teams that made the 2020 contest an instant classic.
