Clerk recalls election as community shows their support
BELLAIRE — As Antrim County Clerk Sheryl Guy looked over the crowd assembled in front of the Antrim County Court House last Wednesday, June 23 to show their support of her and her staff, Guy couldn't help but recall the traumatic days surrounding the Nov. 3, 2020, general election as she choked back tears.
"We knew months ahead of time that the election was going to be very politically charged, and that accuracy would be paramount, so we did everything we could to ensure that accuracy," Guy said afterwards of herself and staff members Connie Wing, Missie Titus, Micki Hocking, Shelley Dennis and Amy Gilman. "Everything was checked and re-checked."
Numerous changes and corrections were made to the 43 different ballot styles sent out to the county's 15 townships in the weeks and days before Election Day itself.
