ANTRIM COUNTY — After hearing demands for the removal of a Commissioner from her seat on the board as well as her position with the Northwest Michigan Health Department during public comment during their monthly evening meeting last week the Antrim County Board of Commissioners discussed a proposed public hiking trail, agreed to a $10,000 revamp of the county's website, and agreed to consider a revision of the county's stormwater and soil erosion ordinance.

Referring to the damage done in 2020 from particularly hard rainstorms at a proposed RV park in Milton Township, Antrim County Soil Erosion Officer Heidi Shaffer told the Commissioners that she would like the ordinance, initially created in 2008, to deal with "open construction sites." especially in light of the weather in recent years.

"I'm asking for an RFP (request for proposal) and approval of funding to send out to engineers to ask them to help us re-evaluate the guidelines of the ordinance," she said. "We desperately need to have an ordinance that deals with open construction sites and the severity of storms."
