Council member votes against reduction in village fees
KALKASKA — The emerging cannabis industry has provided the Village of Kalkaska with a new revenue stream, thanks to application and inspection fees now being paid by the more than 50 such businesses that have come to call the village home.
The growth has been at such a level that village officials thought it was time to actually reduce the cost of those fees.
But, at least one member of the Kalkaska Village Council stated she was against such action, as Trustee Elizabeth Dunham cast the lone dissenting vote on a motion to amend the village fee schedule at the council’s regular meeting Monday, Feb. 8.
