Elk Rapids places 13th at Division 3 boys golf state finals
EAST LANSING — The Elk Rapids boys golf team capped off its season with a 13th-place finish at the Division 3 state finals at Forest Akers West on Friday and Saturday.
The Elks shot a two-day total of 718, which put them two shots ahead of Frankenmuth and five behind 12th-place finisher Hillsdale. Hanover-Horton won its first state championship since 1993 in thrilling fashion after finishing tied for the top spot with Big Rapids. Both schools had scores of 651, but Hanover-Horton won the title using the fifth golfer tiebreaker. The Comets’ Kyler Rod was six strokes better than Big Rapids’ Elliot Seay (182-188).
