Elks’ longtime coach takes over varsity football
ELK RAPIDS — Tony Moller has taken over the reigns as Elk Rapids varsity football head coach after newly-hired varsity football head coach Jake Messner was forced to step down due to health reasons. Messner was hired after two successful seasons as the Elks’ quarterback coach to take over for former coach Keith Schulte, who stepped aside after two seasons due to health issues.
Moller took the job with the title of interim head coach, stressing that he wanted to get the program organized and going, and not have a new coach come in that could change the system so close to the official start of practice.
