Friends draw McClure toward Lansing Community College

MANCELONA — Friends are calling Mancelona’s record-breaking runner Tyler McClure to Lansing.

Inter-collegiate competition and a post-secondary education are as well.

McClure is headed to Lansing Community College on a running scholarship to join long-time friend and competitor Isaiah Romeyn, from Ellsworth. He’s familiar with a couple of his new teammates, Zach Wright and Matthew Nowak, and he’ll live near another personal friend.

“I kind of just clicked with the idea of living so close to my pal Johnny Ancel, who goes to MSU (Michigan State University), and being able to run with not only people I know are fast and want to work hard, but people I know,” McClure said.  “LCC has a lot of people that I am familiar with, so it feels close to home.”

McClure will join the LCC Stars in early August with Mancelona school records in the 4x800 relay (8:27) 800 run (2:00.26) and 1600 run (4:21) in his pockets.  He finished his high school COVID-19 shortened career with regional championships in track and cross-country for the Ironmen.
