Ironmen have high expectations coming off playoff berth

MANCELONA — The 2019 football season saw Mancelona end a five-year streak of not making the postseason.

The Ironmen feel like they have personnel to not only pick up where they left off but continue to build on the 5-5 season of a year ago.

“We were so young last year, a lot of sophomores and freshmen,” said Mancelona coach Dan Derrer. “This year we’re mostly juniors and sophomores. We don’t have a ton of seniors, but they’re good kids. It’s a nice blend of kids. They work really hard. We don’t have to get on them about being lazy. They’ve just worked hard.”
