INDIAN RIVER — The Mancelona football team dominated Inland Lakes on both sides of the ball on Thursday, opening the 2019 season with a 44-0 win against the Bulldogs.

The Ironmen broke the game open with 22 points in the second quarter, building a 28-0 halftime lead. That was never threatened as the Mancelona defense was up to the task of shutting down the Bulldogs, holding them to just 72 yards of total offense, including zero passing yards, and just five first downs.

Johnny Ancel and Kyle Corcoran led the way with two touchdowns apiece for Mancelona. Ancel, who carried the ball 21 times for 147 yards, scored on runs of 16 and 13 yards in the second and third quarters, respectively. Corcoran added 121 yards on the ground on 16 carries. He got Mancelona on the board in the first quarter with a 15-yard touchdown run, then added a 27-yard score in the second quarter.
