Kalkaska’s Stosio earns all-state honorable mention

KALKASKA — Margaret Stosio, a senior guard for the Kalkaska girls basketball team, was honored for a standout season on the hardcourt by receiving Division 2 all-state honorable mention as the Associated Press released its lists of top players from the 2019-20 season.

Stosio, who also was an All-Lake Michigan Conference first team selection, was one of 49 players to appear on the honorable mention list — among them Kingsley’s Brittany Bowman, whose team eliminated the Blazers from the postseason in a district semifinal contest.

Detroit Edison’s Gabrielle Elliott, a senior, was picked as the Division 2 player of the year. The coach of the year was Matt Hirschenberger of Freeland. Eleven players were part of the first team and another six were designated for the second team.
