Kewadin resident hired as Parks Director

BELLAIRE — As a child growing up in the Charlotte area of southern Michigan, James Hunter loved his summers with family in Antrim County so much that he chose to move to Kewadin last year. Now he'll get to know the county much better as Antrim County's new Parks Director.

"My family and I spent a lot of time in the Elk Rapids area, where we still have other family members," Hunter said last week. "With all of Antrim County's lakes and natural resources, it was easy to make the decision to move here, and now I have an opportunity to work in the outdoors and do what I have a passion for doing."

A graduate of Charlotte High School, Hunter attended Lansing Community College before moving to Glendale, Ariz., where he worked as a police officer for six years and attended Northern Arizona University and Grand Canyon University. There, he received two Masters Degrees, one in government with an emphasis on the law, and the other in organizational leadership.
